Leu Gardens: Get away from it all in Downtown

Leu Gardens: Get away from it all in Downtown

Situated very near downtown Orlando and on the shores of Lake Rowena, Harry P. Leu Gardens is a beautiful oasis of lush and enveloping plant life. These 50 or so acres and their contents were donated to the City of Orlando in 1961 by Mr. Leu and his wife Mary Jane. They were extensive travelers and avid plant collectors. They created an absolute showplace of exotic plants surrounding their home.

Stroll the garden paths on your own. Garden areas include the butterfly, rose, vegetable, herb, annual, and tropical stream gardens, as well as the signature flower, the camellia garden. They are maintained by a staff of over 200 volunteers. Tour the house with a guide. Ours was extremely knowledgeable about the gardens and house which has been restored to reflect its history. Plus we could have sat on that deep breezy front porch for hours.

Park entry comes with a nominal fee. Leu Gardens is easily one of Central Florida's most beautiful and historic properties. It's become a popular location for weddings, field trips, educational workshops, and for us.
